Exit Reentry visa procedure after expiry

I am delighted by the response received by readers all over the world to this blog. Most of the readers it appears, want to know more details pertaining to exit / reentry visa procedures, which has been already covered earlier. I would now like to explain the procedure to re-enter the kingdom, 'after' the expiry of the exit/re-entry visa period.

As already mentioned before, any expatriate has to obtain an exit / reentry visa if he wants to go out of the kingdom and re-enter. The rule is that he has to leave the kingdom within 2 months from the date of stamping the exit / reentry visa (if not there is a fine of SR 1000) and has to return within the date specified on the visa.

Let's take a special case when due to some reason an expat leaves the kingdom on vacation or any other reason, but is unable to enter the kingdom within the date specified. Under normal circumstances, he would not be able to enter the kingdom, because technically his visa has already expired. However, there is still a provision by which he can re-enter, though the procedure is a bit cumbersome.

Everything depends on your sponsor. and the relationship you have had with him, i.e., was it cordial or otherwise. If you would like to re-enter the kingdom AND your sponsor still wants you back AND (most important of all) your iqama (residence permit) is still valid, then here is how you go about it.
Your sponsor must first file an application with the Saudi Passport Department. There is a special form for this. He will then be given a "yellow" slip. This is nothing but permission from the Saudi Government that you can re-enter the kingdom. This "yellow" slip must be sent to you by courrier immediately. You must, upon receipt of this slip, attach copies of your passport, iqama along with this slip and submit it to the Saudi consulate or embassy in your home country. Once the embassy or the consulate puts their stamp on this yellow slip, you must necessarily leave your home country within 7 days from the date of stamping by the consulate / embassy. Otherwise your reentry visa would be permanently cancelled.
As mentioned above, this procedure is valid ONLY if your iqama hasn't expired already. If so, then you have no chance to re-enter the kingdom and your visa would have got automatically cancelled permanently.
Hence, it is absolutely essential for an expatriate to:
  • Renew your iqama well in advance, and particularly if you are going on vacation. Never be under a false sense of security that you could always renew it after arriving back in the kingdom. Remember, the only thing certain in Saudi Arabia is uncertainty!

  • Always carry a photocopy of your iqama with you, whenever you go out of the country.
Hope the above post has been helpful. Do drop in a line, which would greatly encourage me to write more.

I have a question, if i may...

If an employee (who is on contract of unspecified duration, automatically renewed after every 02 years) goes on 30 days vacations on re-entry visa, after 3 years of service and send resignation letter from there giving 30 days notice period to his employer, Please advise if there is any problem if he wants to return to the kingdom on business/visit visa (Not on employment visa) in immediate future??

Also, would he entitle end of service benefits in such case.

Thank you very much for your immediate reply.

Rehan Jamal,
Riyadh.

Expatguru said...

There are two parts to your question Immi. Let me answer each of them.

There is no problem if you return on a business / visit visa. However, assuming that your employer did not accept your resignation, you run into a very big risk if he comes to know that you are back in the kingdom, because he may simply file a complaint with the labor ministry that you have not fulfilled your contractual obligations. This will lead to your immediate deportation. It's no joke, it has happened to one of the Filipinos here who was sent on exit within 24 hours. So, you have to be extremely careful. My advise to you is NOT to take up any assignment / re-enter the kingdom before one year from the date of departure, because then legally you are free to even come on an employment visa, let alone business / visit visa.

Regarding your second query, you have absolutely no chance to claim your End of Service benefits, because you have not completed your contract. You may be probably legally correct in the sense that it was an unspecified contract duration, but practically it is impossible to get your money back, more so because you voluntarily decided to quit the kingdom.

Hi Expatguru, I was leaving for KSA this morning with my kid but we were not allowed by airport authorities doing the visa check. My visa is valid up to 360 days from our last departure from KSA of Jan. 27, 2007. My son's re-entry states 1-yar (s.i.c.) from the same departure date. They claimed my re-entry is ok, but my son's is not as the Moslem calendar year is even less than 360 days. They advised me to apply for an extension with the Saudi Consulate here on Monday. My husband (in Saudi) whom I've subsequently advised of this was very frustrated and said there is a bit of confusion on this and he knows Saudi immigration will consider applying the 365-days to count 1 year. What is your take on this? I'm pretty desperate, I just lost 2 confirmed seats :-( and it's peak season

Expatguru said...

Ma'am, I feel so sorry for you and I understand the frustration caused by bureaucratic red tapism. But not to worry. Please ask your husband to immediately contact the passport department in the kingdom and apply for an emergency re-entry. I have mentioned the details above. Alternatively, you may also try with the Saudi consulate in your city. The important point is that you must enter the kingdom with your son within 7 days of issue of the yellow slip. Good luck!

tonqing said...

Thanks Expatguru! You are a source not only of info but also of comfort. Especially since I know that my husband would probably want to hit me on the head :-)

I just have a couple more clarifications (with your indulgence), I chanced upon another site earlier mentioning that the request for extension to be submitted by the sponsor to the Saudi Consulate (this one I think is in the USA)should be authenticated or certified by the Saudi Chamber of Commerce. This was similar to what the airport authorities advised me but without the authentication part. And would you know which one would be more bureacratic and cumbersome, this one, or the one involving the Saudi Passport Department.

My husband's first reaction was that we should insisted on taking the flight and took our chance at the King Fahd Immigration. Have you heard of any similar case of deportation due to the difference or confusion on how many days = 1 year?

Thanks again!

Expatguru said...

Hello Tonqing,

One year as per Islamic calendar is always less than one Gregorian year. For every one Gregorian year, you must deduct atleast 11 days. It's quite unfortunate that your husband did not know about it. To be on the safer side, always deduct 15 days from a normal calendar year.

This apart, I think the easiest way would be for your husband to approach the Saudi passport department and send you the yellow slip by courier, as explained in my post above. These cases are quite common here, and there is a standard form available in the passport department in Saudi for exactly such cases. Please immediately contact your husband and ask him to process your papers right away.
And by the way, thanks for your comments. Glad to have been of help to someone. Please do keep visiting this blog.

Hi Expatguru,

Good day to you!

It's me again. My efforts with the consulate were futile, though they were all kind, courteous and patient.

My husband, I can imagine is either fuming mad or stone cold with frustration. So I'm not sure if he will pursue the emergency re-entry option. So I doubt if I will ever set foot in KSA again ;-)

But just curious, how about a visit visa? One liaison staff I met at the consulate mentioned they sometimes file/process visit visas with the KSA embassy.

Thanks!

Expatguru said...

Hi Tonqing,

As long as your husband's iqama has not expired, the procedure to enter to kingdom as his dependent is very easy. All it needs is a little effort by your husband to go to the Passport Department ("Jawasat"), fill in the form and follow the procedure I have mentioned above. In case you are interested only in a short-term visit, please see the procedure in http://workinginsaudiarabia.blogspot.com/2007/12/family-visit-visa.html . In any event, even for the visit visa your husband must initiate the process and you cannot do it yourself in your home country. But the time and effort for both are the same, i.e., visit visa and emergency entry visa, so it is up to you and your husband to decide which is best for yourselves.

tonqing said...

Thanks Expatguru!

Again, that other post on family visit visa offers a wealth of clear information.

Hi Expatguru,

I really appreciate the effort you have taken to answer the questions..
By the way my name is Ahamad yousuf. I am an indian national. i have returned from saudi arabia on exit/re-entry on october 1rst 2006. now the visa got expired before one year. Now I got shortlisted for another company in KSA. Is there is any problem to re enter to KSA without the NOC?

Expatguru said...

Yousuf, the one year period is from the date of expiry of your visa, not from the date of your departure from the kingdom. If you have a copy of your iqama, you can check the expiry date in that. If you are sure of this, there should be no problem for you to re-enter the kingdom without an NOC. Good luck!

ExpatGuru,

Just want to ask ur opinion since I think you are well knowledgeable n experience about visa here in Saudi. I had been hired by one of an petroleum company here in Saudi since May last year (with written agreement mentioning of 2 years renewable contract and 1 month resignation notice requirement) which mean still got another 1 year and 3 months left.

If I intent to resign from this current company and join another company which is also in Saudi, is there any restriction for me to do so without have to obtain NOC from the first company or wait for 1 year freezing period before I can re-enter this country, taking consideration of any regulation on iqama, working visa, multiple exit/re-entry visa or etc.

Appreciate for your opinion on my curious question. Thanks

Dear Expatguru:
Company in Riyadh will be aplying to the Ministry for my visa. I will be coming from Canada. Do you know how long it takes to get the Visa process done through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?

Thanks very much for such an informative blog!

Expatguru said...

Thanks for visiting my blog. For you to join your husband on a permanent visa, you must first ensure that the job title mentioned in his iqama is appropriate. For example, if it is mentioned as "Labor" he wouldn't be able to sponsor you. (Dont confuse this with the actual work he is doing, it is the title mentioned in the iqama, not his actual job title in his work place. The Saudi Government has made out a big list of such professions who cannot bring their families. This keeps changing often, so it is best that you contact your husband first and find out what his job title is. If it is mentioned as "Labor" or any other title in the "prohibited" list, then your husband should first get his job title in his iqama changed.
Next, contact an agent in your home country who would be able to guide you better on this.
Hope this was of some help to you.

It should normally take not more than a month to process a visa, unless there are holidays in between like Hajj or Ramadan.

Dear Expatguru:
I can not thank you enough for your help. The company in KSA wants me join ASAP on a Business Visa with a promise to obtain an Employment Visa within 3 months! Is this a normal practise? Most importantly, does a Business Visa allows an individual to work in KSA? Is it legal.

Thank you again.

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

Working on a business visa is not a normal practice. The visa is provided by the government strictly for business purposes, not for employment. If you are caught, you are certain to be deported. Also, note that you will not be able to take a Saudi driving license on a business visa nor can you bring or sponsor your family. Ask your company to provide a proper employment visa. Do not go by any verbal promises.

Dear Expatguru,
I am a student and my Exit / Re-entry visa expired. Its been more than 12 months and my parents are in Jeddah.

Now my question is how can my father apply for the yellow slip. The embassy here states the procedure is from the Ministry of Interior, which is in Riyadh and not jeddah.

After a lot of research my father is helpless as much as I am.

Please guide me with the procedure and steps which can be conveyed to my Dad for my travel back to saudi

Hi Expatguru,

My father had filled a form from jawasat and got it signed from the higher ranked officers however the yellow slip is something the jawasat employees are not aware.

I seek your suggestion, is the form courier to me enough to approach the embassy for entry into the kingdom? Basically the form only contains details of my visa and iqama

Or should this be submitted in the Ministry of Interior.(MOI)

Thanks

Expatguru said...

Parvez,

It appears that your dad chose to visit Jawasat directly. Honestly, I am not aware of the procedure when you go personally and get things done. What I do know for sure is the procedure mentioned here. Since the Jawasat officials have accepted your father's application, I presume that whatever he has sent you by courier is adequate to be submitted in the Embassy, but I am not sure. The best way would be, is to submit the documents to the embassy with whatever your dad sends by courier and see if they accept. Otherwise, they would let you know what is needed.

Hi Expatguru,

I would like to seek your advise on the current situation that we are dealing at the moment. My husband is currently working in Jeddah and holds an iqama. He applied for a resident visa for us to follow him there. The thing is we are a resident in singapore and had been living here for the past 7 years. So basically when I went to the saudi embassy in singapore we were advised that the visa slip or astigdam can be sent to the saudi embassy in singapore. So he processed as is. The outsourced company who processed made a mistake of indicating that we will be originating from manila instead of singapore. So I brought a copy of that visa slip again to the embassy in sg and was advised for them to re-route it to sg. Now these people are saying that it cannot be done and the only way to do it is to cancel the visa slip which will take a year. If we were a to wait a year that's ridiculous. And why is it that the embassy said it takes a day or two to process re-routing and they cannot or do not want to do it. Is there any way my husband can request for the re-routing on his own to mofa? Like asking a letter from his employer about the re-routing and that he willprocess personally and bring the visa slip to mofa. Would appreciate your advise.

Ginger

Expatguru said...

Ginger,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I feel sorry for you that you have to suffer due to someone else's bungling. The only way out of this mess is for your husband to go personally to the passport (Jawasat) office in his city along with his company's Government Relations Officer and get the visa cancelled. Only after this visa is cancelled, would a new visa be issued. Cancelling the visa is not a difficult thing, so rest assured that it would not take a year. Please also advise your husband to process your fresh visa himself and not outsource it through any agent. It's not as difficult as what people imagine it to be. Good luck!

Expatguru said...

Technically, you are in a country without valid papers! This is extremely dangerous. As per the new rules, your sponsor has to pay SR10,000 as fine. Push your sponsor for your exit papers immediately or you may land yourself in jail!

Anonymous said...

dear sir,

My dependents exit re-entry visa expired last month Sep-18 2008 . Now to extend that i arranged necessary papers from my sponsor and today sending it to india for furthur processing there. But i heard from the agent there in india that the extension request should be submitted within 1 month from the exit re-entry visa expiry date. i.e maximum my dependents can stay 7month if they have come on 6 moths exit re-entry visa. I am little bit worried now. I dont know whethere my family exit re-entry visa can be extended or not. My iqama is valid till december. Please give your views

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

What your agent said is not correct and you better change him! As long as you have a valid iqama (i.e., it should not have got expired nor should it have been renewed in the absence of your dependants), you are safe. Just follow what I have written above. A word of caution: they must arrive in the kingdom within 7 days from the date of stamping by the Saudi Embassy / Consulate.

Hi Expatguru,

Great to discover this site!

I have my family with me here in KSA under my IQAMA or as my dependents. My wife and I have plan that they will go home in Phil for study. I want them to be back maybe every semestral breaks or summer vcation and Dec break which may take 5 months or more likely. My query is like this, since I always saw the validity of the re-entry visa is 6 months from the date of departure, is it possible/or can it be more than 6 mos such as 9 mos so at least they can use the company ticket benefits for them instead of my own expense?
Thanks in advance.

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

Thanks for your comments. In case your wife has a multiple exit/reentry visa, the maximum validity is only 6 months. What I suggest is that just prior to her departure to Phil, she can take a single exit/reentry visa with a validity of 1 year. Usually this request is given for family members (provided your own iqama is valid more than 1 year). This way, she can come back whenever she wants within a year. In case your iqama validity is less than a year, she will be given a single exit/reentry visa valid upto 1 month prior to iqama expiry. Good luck!

Rabiya,

Madam, I feel sorry for your plight. From your question it is clear that while you are in Pakistan, your children are still in the kingdom. First please check whether your husband's iqama is still valid. If so, he should arrange an emergency visa for you. The procedure has been mentioned above.

In case your husband's iqama has already expired or if it has been renewed while you were in Pakistan, then it means that your visa has been cancelled. The only way to bring you back to the kingdom is to apply for a new family visa for you. This can be either a permanent visa or a family visit visa. See the procedure for family visit visa by clicking on the link from the archives given in this page on the right hand side. It all depends on the status of the transfer of your husband's visa. If it has already been submitted to the Passport department and waiting for transfer, then you have to wait until the transfer is complete. I pray Almighty for your early joining with your husband and children.

Expatguru said...

Rabiya,

Ma'am, the fact that your husband is a British passport holder makes his case easier to handle. Just ask him to involve the British Embassy, then things work out much faster. The British and American embassies have a lot of clout and if any of their citizens is in trouble, they intervene and the response is very quick.

I think this is the best way to solve your problem. It is not possible for your BIL to sponsor you as you have to be a blood relative. For the moment, there is just nothing you can do at the moment, unfortunately. But using the British passport tag would certainly help your husband. Ask him to contact the UK Embassy immediately for help. Good luck!

The procedure to be adopted has already been explained in this post clearly. Your father has to take the initiative in getting the yellow slip, as mentioned here and sending it across to you (provided the iqama is still valid). If the iqama has expired, you have to be brought on a fresh visa.

Currently I am already here in Jeddah together with my husband and we wanted to get our daughter next year ( May 2009 ) and we are planning to apply his visa on February. Is the yellow slip still valid? coz during the time that I had applied, the agency told me that if I let my daughter's passport stamped with the visa, she should enter the kingdom within three months which cannot be because he is still under medication for her asthma and we cannot bring her together with me.
Pleaseeeee help...I need to know if the yellow slip is still valid and we can still apply for her visa this february.....

Hello,

I've lived in Saudi until the age of 18 and came back to Turkey with my family for college; except my dad who is still working in Saudi. I've graduated and I'm working since two years. During college, I've renewed my iqama and visited jeddah once a year. This year, my boss is not allowing me to go to Saudi during workdays. My mom and brother can go by extending their visas to renew their iqamas. I can't because if I go on the weekend, it is not for sure the iqama would be renewed just in two days, right? The whole family has to be there? Isn't there some other way to work this out?

Thank you :)

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

It takes around 3 weeks for an iqama to get renewed, provided it is not Ramadan or Hajj season. You do not have a choice, you must apply for leave and go for iqama renewal. A second option would be to let your visa expire. You can always go on a visit visa at your will and leisure. See the archives in this blog for the procedure for visit visa.

Hope this helps.

I am Yasir. I got a family visa last year in June and I got it endorsed in the Saudi embassy, Mumbai, India. When my wife was about join me here... My mother fell ill... She had to stay back... Now it’s Feb 14 almost 8 months from the time of endorsement (8-3=5 months from the expiry date). I heard that the visa is valid for 1 year and if it is endorsed then it will be valid for 3 months from the time of endorsement. So according to the Saudi law, my wives visa has expired. Please let me know if there are any ways thru which I can re-initiate my wife's visa. Please Note: She has never come to Saudi Arabia... So the question or exit-reentry never arises.

My brother might be having Exams during this period e.g their Exit Re-Entry visa is expiring on 18th May 2009 but my brothers exams might take some more time (say 15th of June), my question is that can their exit re entry visa can be extended somehow from the consulate or is there any other procedure to get the extension for one month or so if we can present the proof.

If there is still validity in your iqama, then better to let their exit/reentry visas expire. Then, when they are ready to arrive, follow the procedure given in this post.

Hi Expat Guru,

I am Asif, I was working In Information Technology.I came to india on emergency vacation, I didn't complete my contract. My visa got expired on january 31,2009,and i've no plans to go back to the same company.

Please let me know when i can go back to saudi arabia on an employement visa for another company. Please be noted that while leaving the kingdom my sponsor took signatures and thumb impressions on a paper which states that I will not return the kingdom for another 5 years. Is that legal, am I not able to go back to saudi for 5 Years ?

Please clarify my doubts.

Thanks a lot

Expatguru said...

Asif,

What your employer did was illegal and draconian. He has no right to decide when you will return, it is up to Saudi immigration to decide that. Since you left on exit/reentry visa, you can return for employment only after 1 year from the date of expiry of your iqama.

Asif said...

Dear Expatguru,

Thank you so much for the information, I really apperciate it. I've one query, my iqama expiry is in August 2010, so when can i return to saudi arabia on another visa?

Is the one year count from the date of expiry of visa or iqama ? please clarify.

Thanks

Asif

Expatguru said...

Asif,

It is one year from the expiry date of your iqama.

dear expatguru,

thank you for the wonderful blog. I have joined a company in Jeddah and i left for emergency to Lebanon via an exit/reentry visa. Im not planing to go back to Saudi, can the company cancel my visa while im in Lebanon through their embassy or do i have to come back to Saudi to do so. What are the implications of this, am i not going to be able to enter Saudi. Thank you

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

If you have no intention of returning to Saudi, just keep quite. Your visa would automatically get cancelled. If you plan to return for employment, it can be only after 2 years from the expiry of your iqama (because you left on exit/reentry and not exit visa).

Dear Sir,

Sorry for posting the comment in different place as find only old comments in some pages.

I am a MCA degree holder working as a Programmer. But it is a technician in my Iqama. My company tried for my family status in Riyadh as well as Khobar. It got rejected. Now still they are trying from other source And also they say that I will be able to change my profession only after six months of my stay here..

Now I would like to bring my family on Visit Visa. My concern is will they ask for attested certificate for visit visa. If yes. Then will they accept my MCA degree attested for my irrelevent technician iqama.

Thanks

Dear Guru,

my friend wife was deported from Jeddah by Indian embassy, saying she came on Omraah/Hajj and over stayed .illigal stay (......etc) The reason was some family enemty, Actually she had valid permenant family Visa with kids and PP with Husband having exit/re-entry already done .Now the PP are with Husband in KSA and his wife with kids is in India, now she want to come to KSA after 4 years. what is the procedure.

Awaiting your early response

Expatguru said...

Abdul,

Normally they dont make a fuss for visit visa. Go ahead and apply.

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

First of all, your facts are wrong. Indian embassy does not "deport" anybody. It is done by the Saudi Government. What the Indian Embassy does is just to provide an emergency exit visa. People who are deported by the Saudi Government can never return again to Saudi Arabia as their names and passport numbers would be entered in the system and blacklisted.

Anonymous said...

Dear expatguru,

I'm still not clear on whether my iqama can be cancelled while im in lebanon? I want to avoid going back to saudi to do that but i also want to apply for an iqama in the UAE, i guess i need to cancel my Saudi iqama before i do so.

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

It is impossible to cancel your iqama while you are out of the kingdom. Your visa in the UAE has got nothing to do with the Saudi iqama - both are independent issues. If you do not return to Saudi, your visa would automatically get cancelled once the expiry date is over.

Juancho said...

First of all I would like to thank you for your blog, it is very helpful and informative.
I just want to ask if It's possible to adjust expiry date of Iqama. My iqama expire every 2 years of November and I want it to be May. My child is studying outside the kingdom and his vacation falls on the month of April to May. It is very stressful to cut his classes and come here just to renew my Iqama.
And other question, if my families re-entry visa canceled because I renew my Iqama without them returning in the kingdom. Will I have any problem renewing my iqama? Is their any fines? Will I need to cancel there re-entry visa, before I renew my Iqama? Thanks for your help in advance...

Expatguru said...

Juancho,

This is a common problem faced by all expats in the kingdom. Unfortunately, the only way out is to bring your wife and child here before the iqama expires. They must be present atleast 1 month before iqama expiry, so please time their visit accordingly. After renewal of their iqama, take an exit/reentry visa with a 1-year validity. You may have to submit a letter from your kid's school as proof. If your wife does not return before the re-entry period, her visa would get automatically cancelled. There is a procedure to revive it, provided the iqama is still valid. Please see elsewhere in this blog where I have written about it. But if your family is not here before the iqama expires, you will have to make a fresh visa for them as their visa also would expire.

Irfaan said...

I have just been presented with a penalty of SAR4000 (4 x SAR1000) (just over USD$1000) penalty for not using my families Exit re-Entry visas!
Unbelieveable, in this modern age, who suffers a loss for a Visas that I paid SAR2000 for (SAR500 x 4)
I cannot understand the logic.
.....
Is there anyway out of this crazy predicament?
Curious to know if there will be a change in the rediculous process.
I Harris

Expatguru said...

Irfaan,

I totally agree with you. This is probably one of the few countries in the world where you need a visa for even going out of the country, not just for coming in. I suggest you get hold of a Saudi with a good 'wasta' and atleast try to reduce the fine amount.

Dear Guru

My problem is i have done Exit-Re entry visa for my family and now it is few days left for the re-entry to finish say 10 days and i planned not to get bring my family to KSA any more.

what i have to do in advance to avoid any penalty for not using the re-entry and visa any more. i have to cancel the same before the time ?

Regards
Hassan.

Expatguru said...

Hassan,

You need not do anything. The visa would automatically get cancelled by itself if they do not return by the given date. There is no penalty for this.

i am a ministry employee and left my daughter for studies in india on exit re entry visa of 6 months in march 2008. her iqama was renewed in her absence as per new rule. i want to know whether her visa can be extended from india itself

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

Unfortunately, she has to be physically present here otherwise her visa would get cancelled. You say the iqama was renewed in her absence "according to the new rule". Could you please elaborate? What I know is that if an iqama is renewed without a dependent being physically present in the kingdom, the respective person's visa would get cancelled. This is the reason why people take a 1-year exit/reentry visa for children, which is given upon production of proof of the child's study in the home country.

You did not mention your nationality. If you are Indian, you can return 1 year after the expiry of your iqama. If you are not Indian, you can return only 2 years after the expiry of your iqama.

hi

my re entry visa is with in 30days from the date of exit, can i enter the kingdom exactly on the 30day or should i enter before.

please clarify

Expatguru said...

Anonymous,

You must enter on or before 11.59 pm on the 30th day. You must count Day 1 as the day of your departure. Make sure that it is mentioned as 30 days and not 1 month, because 1 month means one Arabic month and not Gregorian month.

Do I need a no objection certificate from my current employer? What happens with bank accounts and such if I leave this contract and return with a business visa, not an Iqama? Thanks

I need to go to jeddah meaning i have to extend the visa but im confused. there seems to be two ways to do this (as ive heard) the 1st one is with the yellow slip and the other is with submitting a letter of no objection from the sponsor which is notarized by the ministry or saudi chamber
WHICH WAY SHOULD I GO ABOUT DOING THIS? Which way is quicker? I would really appreciate ur help asap as i need to start immediately
thank you

Please advise.
After working in Saudi for more than 6 months, I requested for a vacation, and my Employer allowed me to take early vacation due to a family problem . I was issued an exit re-entry visa. But due to the magnitude of this family problem, in July 2009, I decided to resign from my job (I did it trough email), and did not go back to my work. It is construed that my work visa has already been cancelled. And as seen in a photocopy, my Iqama has expired last March 2010.

Now, I've received a nice Offer to work for another Employer in Saudi.

Will I be given an Entry work visa this June 2010?

Please note that my previous Iqama has expired already in March 2010. My previous last exit from Saudi was on the ist week of July 2009.

Please advise.

Dear Expatguru,

Appreciate for your recommendations/ suggesstions & advices on various subjects, just to help ezpat community. May God bless you and reqard you for this hard efforts & time you dedicate to others.

I too have a question on Exit & Re-entry visa. My wife due to pregnancy complicatins left to India on exit-re-enty visa on 31/12/09 with 6 months validity. The visa will expire on 25/06/10. A month before she delivered a baby. I have already applied for baby's passport. But due to child health, they cannnot travel in next month and will be doing so in another 2 months. In this scenario, what will be best for me,
- should i apply for extension of re-entry visa (before expiry)
- let the re-entry visa expire and apply for emergency re-entry, then what about the baby's entry
- cancel the re-entry visa for wife & after 2 month then apply for new visa for both.

Which will be easy for me and less of an hassel. my iqama is valid till 08/08/11. My profession is Mech. Techn. on the Iqama.
I do hope you will reply for my query, as I am bit tensed about this and seek some sincere advice.

Thansk & regards

Dear ExpatGuru,

Glad I’ve seen your blog.
I hope you could help/answer my questions. My contract will end this coming June 2011 and I already filed for an exit last February 2011, my sponsor will allow me to go on exit provided that I have to extend for about 3 to 4 months (it means that I’ll have to stay until October 2011), now my problem is, my IQAMA will expire this coming July and since my sponsor could not renew our IQAMAs (due to whatever reasons) they are transferring our Visas to their sister company’s Visas and since that I will go on exit they will not transfer my Visa and the expiration of my IQAMA is coming near. My questions are; I could go on exit without any hustle while my IQAMA is expired or Sponsor’s letter for my extension may help? I could come back here in KSA after 3 months for employment in other company despite that my IQAMA was expired before I left KSA?
Thank you in advance and more power.

Hi Expat Guru. Is it illegal under Saudi law to be in possession of both your Iqama and personal passport at the same time while inside the Kingdom? I need both documents to attend a conference. My company insists on holding onto my Iqama when I need my passport claiming it is illegal to have both simultaneously but I suspect that they just want to protect themselves from a fine if I, for some strange reason, decide to leave the country with Iqama in hand.

Thanks in advance.

Hello sIr,
presently I am on a exit re entry visa from my current employer In saudi Arabia and I got my UK visa approved. Is it necessary for me to get back to Saudi and take final exit from my employer or I can just leave it like that. Is it gonna make me a problem in my UK immigration.

Dear Mr. Expat Guru,

I would like to confirm if it is true you that you cannot come back to Saudi Arabia if you wish not to return (if you have valid re-entry visa) and return to KSA under new visa from a new sponsor?

What would be the effect if you will not comeback in KSA even if you have valid re-entry visa? Can you still come under new visa from a new sponsor?

Please answer my query.

Thank you and more power.

Dear Expat Guru,

I am a student in US and my exit re-entry expires in a week and my iqama is still valid. i have read the procedure on getting an extension on your exit re-entry visa but i cannot get these documents as all government offices in the Kingdom are closed for the Eid holidays. When the government offices open next week, my exit re-entry will already be expired. My concern is that Will the Consulate be able to issue me an extension even after the re-entry has expired or will i have to get one of those emergency re-entrys that you have mentioned in your previous posts.

Your help is much appreciated.

Regards ,

Bilal

Sir, please help me.

I will travel on vacation using exit re entry visa. However I'm not sure if I'm still coming back here on kingdom.

If I decided not to come back, my sponsor told me that they will cancel my iqama.

If my sponsor cancel my iqama, does it mean that my exit re entry visa is automatic cancel?

Do I need to get any papers from my sponsor, that they really cancel my iqama?

If i get a new job offer in kingdom, it is possible for me to come back ASAP? if not, when can I return to kingdom to work?

Hi Pal,

Great blog especially for Saudi Arabia,

I have a situation, my family came to India for delivery in 6 month exit, re-entry.
Glade to know we got a 2nd boy baby and I came to India for my vacation to arrange the passport work for my new born baby, but she couldn’t travel within the visa validity. Now my family visa has been expired on 25 Dec, 2013. But unfortunately we come to know that our passport doesn’t have spouse name, so 1st we have to add the spouse name in any one us passport. These works is in progress but within this time period the visa have been expired.

Do we have any option to revalidate my family permanent visa?
Please advice

Dear Sir,
I have problem regarding my RE-Entry Visa to Saudi Arabia. I was on 30 days vacation starting December 18, 2013 from my two years contract,(I already finished one year). Supposedly my returning flight bound to Dammam was scheduled last January 20, 2014 but I didn't able to board my International flight due to the cancellation of all scheduled local flights from Cagayan de Oro to Manila due to the typhoon agaton. I rebook my International plane ticket but the only available scheduled with vacant seat was on January 25, 2014 and I grabbed it . I already in Manila international Airport Terminal 2 during that day ready to check-in but the visa officer was not allowing me to check-in due to the expiration of my Re-Entry Visa. As stated in the visa:(Departure before January 25, 2014 and Return before January 25, 2014.) I inform my employer about the matters and they promised to file an extension Visa from the Saudi Ministry but they give me a negative result in their early email. I sent them the cancellation certificate from PAL and I think this is not my fault why I didn't catch my International flight to Dammam. As I mentioned the caused due to the typhoon AGATON.
Sir, I would like to ask your advice on what next move to do. I have 3 small kids that need my support and I still have my one year remaining contract to my employer Sendan International Co. LTD. and my agency here in the Philippines is GBMLT located in Mabini, Manila. We paid for a placement fee equivalent to one month salary.

Sincerely Yours,

Remegio "JUN" Gomez

Dear Sir,

I am an Indian national, I came on exit re entry from KSA on 7th August 2013. In my exit re entry paper, i saw my iqama expiry date is 30 August 2014.

Recently, I have checked mol website, it says Absent from work.

If i have been awarded a job offer from ksa when can i go again.

Please convey the correct message whether i can go now immediately or i need to wait till my iqama expiry date till 30 August 2014 or i need to wait for another one more year after my iqama expiry date from 30 August 2014 to 30 August 2015

Thanks in advance

Great Blog.

I have a question, if an employer appoints you and issues you a Job Offer letter verified by Chamber of commerce and by Ministry of Finance of KSA, you started processing your documents from all the aspects, and medical, just before visa stamping employer gives an irrational dead line to reach KSA other wise they won't be able to accept you. what shoud I do where as I have resigned from my existing job in home country.
